Why Fire Watch Matters

A coastal hotel corridor with clear access to a stairwell and fire safety equipment

Occupant Safety

An alarm or sprinkler outage leaves people without part of the building’s normal protection. Our firewatchers look for signs of smoke or fire and know how to call for help and assist with notifying occupants.

Dedicated Patrols

We walk the assigned floors, hallways, stairwells, and exterior, with attention to affected areas. Patrol intervals follow the local Fire Marshal’s instructions, including more frequent rounds where required.

Communication and Records

Josh stays in contact with management and the Fire Marshal’s office. Firewatchers have the site’s contact details and record their rounds in the required patrol log format.

Fire Watch Is Our Entire Business

When your system goes down, you need someone who answers the phone and takes the assignment seriously. Fire watch is what we do every day, with professionally dressed personnel who know what to look for and who to call.

Our team includes off-duty firefighters and people with relevant fire-safety experience. They also help train newer firewatchers. Josh monitors active assignments and makes unannounced site visits to check that his standards are being met.

What Property Managers Can Expect

A coastal residential propertyAn office and commercial property exteriorA floor plan and communication equipment prepared for site coordination

A Fast, Clear Start

Call Josh with the property location, size, and system issue. Get an initial estimate over the phone and a written quote within an hour. We offer a one-hour response for urgent coverage.

People Who Stay on Site

GPS-based attendance monitoring, unannounced owner visits, and coordinated shift changes help keep the assignment staffed. On-call relief is available if a scheduled firewatcher cannot attend.

Direct Help Through Sign-Off

Josh stays in contact with property management and the Fire Marshal’s office. When repairs are complete, he verifies the required sign-off before releasing the watch.

The Fire Marshal’s instructions determine the required watch and whether the property can remain occupied. Your repair contractor remains responsible for restoring the system.

Patrol Logs That Record the Work

Firewatchers use the log format required by the local Fire Marshal. Each entry records the date, time, firewatcher’s name, areas patrolled, and any issues found.

A copy is available on request when the assignment ends, even if coverage has continued for several weeks. Required on-site records and submissions to the fire authority follow the instructions for your property.

Fire Watch FAQs

View all questions
How quickly can you get to my property?

We offer a one-hour response for urgent fire watch. Call (704) 617-1047 and speak directly with Josh about your location, the system issue, and the coverage you need. Calling is the fastest way to get a firewatcher on site.

What fire watch services do you provide?

We provide dedicated on-site fire watch when an alarm or sprinkler system is out of service, including during repairs and at construction properties. Fire watch is our sole service: patrols, observation, emergency notification, and patrol records. We do not provide hot-work fire watch, general security guarding, firefighting, system repairs, equipment rentals, or customer training.

Can you cover nights only, or do I need 24-hour service?

We provide overnight fire watch as well as continuous 24/7 coverage. The schedule can fit your property's needs, provided it meets the Fire Marshal's requirements. Continuous assignments are staffed in rotating eight-hour shifts, with a handover between firewatchers.

How much does fire watch cost?

Typical rates are $35–$40 per hour. Your rate depends on the property's size, whether it is residential, the fire hazard involved, and the coverage required. Josh asks a few questions over the phone, gives an initial estimate, and follows up with a written quote. Rush charges and billing through the end of the final scheduled shift are explained before service.

Should I call or use the website form?

Call (704) 617-1047 if you need fire watch now. We are on call around the clock. For a future assignment or a detailed quote, use the simple request form or email joshua@palmettocoastfirewatch.com. We can collect the property address, occupancy, system issue, start time, and on-site contact during a phone call.
